Getting there
Nearest city: Anji County, Huzhou
- By car: about 1.5 hours from Hangzhou or 2.5 hours from Shanghai, finishing on a winding mountain road up to Tianhuangping.
- By rail: take a train to Anji Station, then about 1 hour by taxi up the mountain.
Where to stay
The Jiangnan Tianchi Resort hotel inside the scenic area is within walking distance of the slopes, and Daxi village below has plenty of guesthouses.
Highlights
- Built in 2006, it is one of the earliest outdoor ski areas in the Yangtze River Delta, with a run nearly 800 m long and 40 m of vertical.
- The Tianchi mountain hot springs are right next to the slopes for a soak after skiing.
Tips
- The ski area is inside the Jiangnan Tianchi scenic area, so you need a scenic-area entry ticket on top of the ski ticket.
- Opening depends on temperatures and usually falls around mid-to-late December, so check the official channels before setting off.
